Prince Louis appeared animated on the Buckingham Palace balcony
Louis stole the spotlight at the 2019 Trooping the Colour, the last time the royal family held the event due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Now, two years later, he did it again.
The little royal, the youngest of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s children, waved to crowds during the carriage procession. Then, once on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, he became even more animated.
Louis’ parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, plus his siblings, Prince George, 8, and Princess Charlotte, 7, joined him. However, while the adults smiled and chatted, Louis seemed unable to contain his excitement. His facial expressions ran the gamut of human emotion, capturing onlookers’ attention, setting social media abuzz, and even inspiring memes.

A body language expert says Prince Louis’ excitement brought out ‘childlike excitement’ in Queen Elizabeth
Louis and Queen Elizabeth’s balcony interaction appeared more playful, according to body language expert Judi James. So much so that Louis’ excitement seemed to rub off on his great-grandmother.
James told Mirror the “strength of the bonds” between Queen Elizabeth and Louis became clear. Louis had what she described as the “most spontaneous” body language, noting that at one point he stood in front of Queen Elizabeth.
Throughout it all, the 96-year-old monarch, who has had ongoing “episodic mobility” issues, sported what James called an “indulgent facial expression” By the time the flypast began, it looked to the body language expert that the excitement Louis felt had brought out “childlike excitement” in Queen Elizabeth.
“She clearly loved the roar of the engines and as Louis literally jumped up and down at the sight of the Red Arrows, the Queen smiled and chatted as though sharing the moment,” James said.
