New charges for Kayla Montgomery


The estranged wife of the father of a missing New Hampshire girl waived her arraignment on new charges Monday.Manchester police said Kayla Montgomery is charged with two felony counts of perjury for allegedly lying to a grand jury.According to court complaint documents, Kayla Montgomery is accused of testifying falsely about a prior work location and also testifying falsely regarding the time of a prior work shift. WMUR was first to report that she was arrested Friday at the Manchester Police Department when she arrived for her daily check-in based on her bail conditions. In that case, she is accused of claiming that Harmony Montgomery was still a member of her household, even though the girl was not living with her and Adam Montgomery at the time. Prosecutors said Kayla Montgomery claimed more than $1,500 in benefits to which she was not entitled. Kayla Montgomery also faces charges in a separate case in which she is charged with two counts of receiving stolen property. She is accused of receiving a rifle and shotgun that she knew or probably knew were stolen sometime between September and October of 2019. Harmony’s mother, Crystal Sorey, told WMUR she is hopeful this most recent arrest will lead to some answers. “I’m hoping that they put her in a position where she has to tell them where she is, or both of them has to tell where she is,” Sorey said. Harmony Montgomery has not been seen in more than two years. Investigators believe she disappeared between late November and early December 2019. Kayla Montgomery’s court appearance comes just one day before Harmony’s birthday. She will turn 8 years old on Tuesday.
